Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) provides a systematic analysis of the environmental impacts of a product (or service) system throughout its life cycle. This includes every stage from raw material extraction and processing, through product manufacturing, packaging, marketing, usage, reuse, and maintenance, to recycling and final disposal.
The basic framework of LCA consists of four parts: research goals and scope, inventory analysis, environmental impact assessment, and environmental improvement assessment.
▶ Set Goals and Scope
Identify the research objectives of the LCA and delineate the scope of the study, covering the product system under investigation, the functional units, and the duration of the study.
▶ Inventory Analysis
Identify the research objectives of the LCA and delineate the scope of the study, covering the product system under investigation, the functional units, and the duration of the study.
▶ Impact Assessment
Based on the data from inventory analysis, employ appropriate assessment methods and models to evaluate and quantify the environmental impacts throughout the product lifecycle, such as global warming potential, water resource consumption, ozone depletion, etc.
▶ Result Interpretation
Interpret and communicate the results of the impact assessment, including identifying key environmental impact hotspots, assessing the sustainability of the product system, and proposing improvement recommendations.
▶Define the project scope and define boundaries
▶Establish a process flowchart
▶Collect inventory data on resource use, energy consumption, and relevant emissions at various stages of the product lifecycle
▶Conduct environmental impact analysis and calculate carbon footprint
▶Interpret data results (many quantifiable indicators of the product)
Standard Product LCA Analysis Report Services
Including life cycle assessment (LCA) for products in industries such as building materials, chemicals, electronics, energy, agriculture, packaging, and materials. Services include data collection and analysis, LCA modeling, LCIA environmental impact assessment, and LCA reporting. LCA reports are suitable for internal and external communication within enterprises, strategic decision-making, and development of EPD certificates based on LCA analysis.
LCA Report Review Services
For 3rd communication needs, independent review of LCA analysis reports is necessary to ensure the validity and accuracy of conclusions. LVG can provide LCA report review services for EPD applications, product standards, policy research, and market promotion.
